Chiang,Chih-I,one of Taiwan's most active contemporary violinists in Taiwan. He is now the Concertmaster of Taipei Symphony Orchestra. At the age of 18, he won a prize at the Ninth of Taipei Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and was admitted to the Taipei Symphony Orchestra at the age of 23. Since 2001, he became the Concertmaster at the Orchestra at the age of 26 and was the youngest Concertmaster musician of professional orchestra. He graduated from the Graduate Institute of Music at Taipei National University of the Arts, and is now teaching at the National Taiwan University of Arts. He is also a board director of the New Art Inc.
Chiang was taught by the violin masters, Liu, Hsien-Cho, Hsieh, Chung-Ping, Liao, Nien-Fu, and Chien, Ming-Yen since childhood, and his performance and
participation in contest present excellent quality. He not only performs in Taiwan but is renowned internationally. He worked twice with the master conductor Sergiu Comissiona and the Asian Youth Orchestra in world tour performance. He performs across Europe, America and Asia, and is often invited to overseas well-known symphony orchestra as concerto soloist. He regularly performs solo recital in the National Concert Hall receiving great recognition and appreciation from all.
In addition to his expertise in violin, Chiang is also good at Chamber music performance and is enthusiastic to take challenges in different forms of performances and music genres. He also actively involves in diversified music types promotion. He was invited to France in 2005 and 2006 as the guest professor in La Mans and La Rochelle Music Season and had a Chamber music and concerto tour in the southern France. The domestic and overseas musicians he works with include Hsu, Chia-Chi, Cheng, I-Ching, Hsieh, Chung-Ping, Hsin, Hsing Chun, and David Fung, etc. to collaboratively inspire new classic music.
Except his dedication to violin performance and teaching, Chiang has shown his talent in conducting and become the conductor of TSO Chamber Orchestra and regular conductor of NewArt Symphony Orchestra. The orchestras and performances he ever led include the following:
- Conductor of Taipei Philharmonic Youth Chamber Orchestra in 2008
- Conductor of TSO Chamber Orchestra in 2012 inviting many domestic and overseas masters, including Tseng, Keng-Yuan, Ernest Hoetzl, Yang, Chiao-Hui, and David Grimal, etc. who received great positive feedback.
- Music director and conductor of AMcreative theater in 2013 and performed in DoReMi Children Musical in National Concert Hall.
- Guest conductor in Sonare Symphony Orchestra in 2013 and performed collaboratively with famous violinists: Tseng, Yu-Chien and Wang, Chien-Tang at National Concert Hall.
- Conductor of the "Celestial Blessings in Unison" hosted by the NewArt Symphony Orchestra in 2014. Conductor in Hunan Symphony Orchestra and was invited to conduct in “A Feast Of Eastern Music” in November 2015 and orchestra for “Tenor Concert of Oscar Zhang-Artist’s story” in December.
- Invited to conduct the Tianjin Music Academy Orchestra New Year Concert in 2016 as well as the NewArt Symphony Orchestra charity concert in March to perform "Phoenix Nod" the world debut composed by internationally renowned composer Hsu, Chang-Chun with Chu, Chien-Ching who’s international folk music dulcimer.
