Chih-Chien Lin, a native of Taiwan, serves as Assistant Professor at Tainan National University of the Arts. A recipient of numerous awards, Mr. Lin has won first prize at the Young Artist Showcase Competition and the Buffet Crampon Clarinet Competition in Taiwan and was also a winner of the Rio Hondo Symphony Young Artists Competition, Redlands Bowl Young Artists Auditions and the USC(University of Southern California) Thornton School of Music concerto competition. He is also a finalist in 2nd Lisbon International Clarinet Competition. Mr. Lin has appeared as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, USC Thornton Symphony, Rio Hondo Symphony, Tainan National University of the Arts Symphony Orchestra, Taiwan Soloists Symphony Orchestra, Ministry of National Defense Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Wind Orchestra & Symphony Band, TSO(Taipei Symphony Orchestra) Wind Orchestra and Soochow University Wind Ensemble.
As an active chamber musician, Mr. Lin has won second prize at the Artur Balsam Competition for Duos as well as the Lillian Fuchs Memorial Chamber Music Competition. He has played with renowned artists such as Windscape woodwind quintet and members from Pacific Symphony, LA Opera, San Francisco Ballet, New World Symphony and National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra.
As an orchestra musician, Mr. Lin has played with Downey Symphony, Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra, National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra of the Americas. He has participated in festivals including the National Orchestra Institute(USA) and Le Domaine Forge(Canada).
Mr. Lin was sponsored by Bank SinoPac and Philharmonic Radio Taipei for 5 years, which gave him a debut recital in the National Recital Hall in Taiwan in 2010. He is also a recipient of the Mitchell Lurie Clarinet Scholarship from USC and the Studying Abroad Scholarship from Ministry of Education, Taiwan.
As an Educator, Mr. Lin has given master classes in International Woodwind Festival Xi’an in China, National Taiwan University of Arts, Soochow University in Taiwan, Thailand International Clarinet Academy and Mahidol University in Thailand. He also served as the judging panel of Buffet Crampon Asia Pacific Clarinet Competition and National Student Competition of Music in Taiwan.
Mr. Lin received his bachelor’s degree from Soochow University in Taiwan under the guidance of Wei-Ling Chen and continued his Master’s degree at Manhattan School of Music under Mark Nuccio and his Doctor of Musical Arts at University of Southern California with the renowned pedagogue Yehuda Gilad.
After receiving his doctoral degree at USC in 2015, Mr. Lin came back to his home town, Taiwan, and joined the renowned Magic Clarinet Quartet, a Buffet Crampon and Vandoren performing ensemble.
